HR Generalist (Contract)

Summary

Data Sciences is seeking an HR Generalist for a 1 year contract to support the day-to-day HR operations of our growing team. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and experienced in handling the full employee lifecycle. You’ll work closely with the VP of Operations to maintain a people-first, inclusive, and compliant workplace.

This role requires someone who is well-versed in labour laws and HR best practices in both Ontario and Quebec, and who can confidently ensure that our processes remain compliant and up to date. You are a strong communicator and a trusted partner—approachable, discreet, and thoughtful in your interactions. You’re also comfortable using technology to streamline HR processes, manage data, and support a remote-friendly, modern workplace. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join a growing company!

Key Responsabilities:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and general support
  • Manage onboarding and off-boarding processes, including documentation, orientation, and exit interviews
  • Support payroll and benefits administration in collaboration with Finance and third-party vendors
  • Maintain accurate HRIS (HiBob) records and employee files
  • Assist in coordinating performance reviews, training programs, and engagement initiatives
  • Monitor time-off requests and ensure compliance with internal policies and provincial labour standards
  • Support recruitment efforts by coordinating job postings, interviews, and candidate communications
  • Help develop and implement HR policies and procedures aligned with company values and compliance standards
  • Contribute to internal communications and culture-building initiatives
  • Coach, counsels, and guide management and team members to ensure resolution of employment related matters.
  • Partner with our Talent Acquisition Agency when we have to replace senior roles.
    Oversee the training and development budget in collaboration with Finance, ensuring it aligns with business priorities
  • Track and follow up on training completion across departments to ensure all managers and employees remain compliant and up to date with mandatory or role-specific development.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Candidate Qualifications

  • 2+ years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist or coordinator role
  • Knowledge of Quebec and Ontario employment standards
  • Experience with HRIS systems (HiBob experience is an asset)
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and discretion
  • Proactive, people-oriented, and able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth, or agency environment is a plus
  • Fully Bilingual (English and French) with an ability to primarily communicate in English amongst our Canada-wide and international employees
