Manager, People & Culture

Summary

Reporting to the VP Operations, the Manager of People and Culture is a critical position that
will play a key role in designing, developing and implementing strategies that will attract,
engage and develop employees, and build a high-performance culture.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and confident leader with demonstrated experience
collecting and synthesizing input from stakeholders, identifying opportunities for improvement,
proposing creative and pragmatic solutions, and thoughtfully designing process rollouts
through a change management lens. This role is ideal for someone that is happy doing the day
to day tasks as well as developing strategy and implementing it. We are a fast growing agency
and therefore this is an exciting opportunity for you to build a human resources department
from the ground up.

Accountabilities

  • Create and implement policies, processes, and initiatives to support the organization’s
    people and culture compliance and strategy needs.
  • Coach, counsels, and guide management and team members to ensure resolution of
    employment related matters.
  • Manage human resource programs such as onboarding and offboarding,
    compensation, benefits, leaves, disciplinary matters and investigations, performance
    management, and talent management;and training and development.
  • Partner with our Talent Acquisition Agency when we have new roles
  • Leads the health and safety committee, designating key roles to internal team and
    outsourcing responsibilities as needed
  • Contribute to internal communications and company wide events (such as townhalls)
    on human resources matters
  • Identifies staffing and recruitment needs; develops and executes best practices for
    hiring and talent management.
  • Send employee communications – letters, memos, updated contracts etc.
  • Continue to build and evolve talent development processes including organizational
    core competencies, goal setting, performance metrics (performance rubric), 360 degree
    feedback, coaching, and quarterly reviews.
  • Manage a professional development program by working with managers to identify and
    implement training and development opportunities for individuals and teams.
  • Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, provincial, and local
    employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and
    modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new
    technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies
    this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper
    management.
  • Facilitates rewards & recognition, bonuses, and activities for staff.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Candidate Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; or related Master’s degree in HR
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant HR related experience at the manager level
  • Knowledge of current employment legislations in Canada
  • Expert knowledge of human resources processes and best practices
  • Proven excellence in team leadership, organization, administration and communication
    skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency using technology tools, including working in Mac computer
    environments, and Google programs and applications.
  • Fully Bilingual (English and French) with an ability to primarily communicate in English
    amongst our Canada-wide and international employees

  • Strong business acumen, seeking to understand key aspects of the organization
  • Highly skilled communicator; exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Highly skilled at project management; proven success working in a fast-paced
    environment and delivering against multiple work streams
  • Fluent in change management strategies and implementing change across an
    organization
  • Attention to detail, responsive and adherent to deadlines; excellent time management,
    organization and planning skills
  • Demonstrates initiative and autonomy
  • Exercises diplomacy, confidentiality and good judgment
