About The Role

DS is seeking a Creative Lead to join our dynamic team in Montreal. This role goes beyond overseeing the direction and development of creative content and assets for our clients; it is about driving innovation and contributing to DS’s evolution and future growth.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for bringing our client’s visions to life, while continuously experimenting with the latest best practices, tools, and trends within the industry to optimize creative work and operate efficiently. Balancing strategic foresight with hands-on creativity, you will actively participate in design and copywriting while managing a team of content strategists. This role is ideal for someone deeply immersed in digital marketing, capable of extracting insights from data to consistently deliver exceptional results for diverse client brands.

This position is hybrid, so you will work both from our Old Port Head Office and remotely. You will report directly to the VP of Digital Marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of in-house graphic designers, copywriters, and external contractors to create compelling marketing assets across digital and traditional channels (paid social, search, display, web, CRM, direct mail, OOH, print).
  • Foster curiosity and entrepreneurship to innovate and shape DS’s creative products, integrating AI tools to maximize impact, enhance productivity, and continuously add value to clients.
  • Maintain DS clients’ brand guidelines and voice across all assets.
  • Transform client business objectives into impactful creatives, leveraging a strong creative vision to lead high-concept ideas and asset development.
  • Manage the intake and delivery of creative projects, allocate team resources, and prioritize concurrent projects for various stakeholders.
  • Analyze the performance of marketing creative across different channels, providing data-driven insights.
  • Champion design thinking initiatives that enhance business impact and elevate creative effectiveness.
  • Mentor and develop team members, supporting their professional growth and performance goals.
  • Recruit and manage freelancers as needed.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers for client communications and interactions.
  • Support company marketing efforts through social media and website copywriting, posting, and community management.
  • Stay on top of the latest trends in digital advertising, including emerging tools and platforms.

Candidate Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of design experience encompassing a diverse range of print and digital designs, with a predominant focus on digital media. Minimum 2 years in a Senior Designer or Art Director role.
  • Demonstrated experience in people management, leading creative teams comprising designers and copywriters.
  • Proficiency in online marketing channels and familiarity with digital ad platforms’ design specifications and guidelines (Meta, Google, Bing, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Pinterest, Twitter/X, TikTok).
  • A dedicated and proven artist with a strong commitment to creativity.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, capable of organizing, motivating, and raising the design standards of your team.
  • Experience working with established brand guidelines, ensuring clarity and consistency in messaging, with a high level of quality control.
  • Eagerness for personal growth, openness to receiving and giving feedback, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for creative excellence and results-driven outcomes.
  • Excellent organizational skills, capable of prioritizing projects of varying complexity and scope.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Figma, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and AfterEffects.
  • Experience with motion graphics and animation across digital, display, and email marketing.
  • Understanding of UX principles and practices.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of HTML/CSS/CMS/WordPress; front-end web development experience is a plus.
  • Agency experience managing multiple clients and stakeholders is a plus.
  • Interest in advertising related to social issues, elections, or politics is a plus.
  • Familiarity with marketing analytics and A/B testing methodologies is beneficial.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.
